Instrument Rental Scheme

Instrument Rental Scheme

This Scheme is designed primarily for young beginners. An initial payment entitles the player to three months' use of the instrument.
After the first three months, several options are normally available:

* The instrument may be purchased by paying the Balance (Purchase Price less Rental), as explained on the Rental Charges page.

* It may be possible to purchase the instrument VAT-free through the Assisted Purchase Scheme (if your teacher works for Surrey County Council - leaflet available). A small administration charge is made by Surrey CC for this service, and you would also have to return the instrument to the Store, when requested. This option is only available during School Term Times and only for net balances over £200.

* You may split payment of the Balance into 6 equal payment, by arrangement with us, at no extra charge (i.e. Interest-free). Not applicable for Surrey CC Scheme.

* The instrument may be rented for a further 3 months for the same rental price, however only half of the second payment may be deducted from the Balance if subsequently purchased. No further discounts, but we can still let you use the Assisted Purchase Scheme (see option above).

* The instrument can simply be returned by the due date if the player does not wish to continue, and no further payment will be due.

At the End of the Rental Period

A reminder will be sent approximately three weeks before the end of the rental period, so that the customer can decide which option to take. The maximum rental period is six months.
It is the customer's responsibility to inform the Surrey Music Store by the due date, if the instrument is to be returned. Equally, the customer should inform the Store if any individual terms are required, which must be negotiated before the expiry. We are always willing to be flexible, given sufficient notice !

General Conditions

The instrument remains the property of Surrey Music Store until paid for in full, and the hirer must insure the instrument against the possibility of damage or loss during the entire rental period. We are able to recommend a Policy if required.
Unless otherwise stated, all instruments are brand-new and come as a complete outfit with case and the essential accessories. All instruments carry a one-year Guarantee, and are inspected and checked before rental or sale.
Surrey Music Store is registered under the terms of the Consumer Credit Act 1974 - licence no. 380410 and all Credit facilities are offered subject to status.

Credit Card Payments

We would appreciate balance payments by cash, cheque or Debit Card, as this helps us with Bank Charges. We do of course accept most Credit Cards, apart from American Express and Diners Club.
